Julia B. Casa: Monogram store with vendor order management
Julia B. Casa sells handmade, hand-embroidered bedding, table linens and towels, each of which can carry the customer's own monogram. We launched its Shopify Plus store with a four-step monogram builder and a shop-by-look gallery, and built a back office where vendors design, send for approval, produce and ship each personalized order through FedEx.
IN SHORT
- Julia B. Casa sells handmade, hand-embroidered home linens that can be personalized with a monogram, and Lucent Commerce launched its store on Shopify Plus.
- A shopper personalizes a product in four steps (style, letters, colors and location), and those choices travel with the order to checkout.
- We built a back office where each monogram becomes a design, goes to the customer for approval, then to a vendor to be made and shipped.
- Orders from vendors in different countries are sent out through FedEx.
The challenge
Julia B. Casa makes bedding, table linens, towels and outdoor pieces by hand, with embroidery and appliqué, and many of them are made to order. Its signature is the monogram: a customer can have their own letters on sheets, a guest towel, a cocktail napkin or a place setting. A standard shop cannot sell that, because the product does not exist until the customer has chosen its details.
Each personalized piece is a small project with several people in it. The customer chooses a style, letters, colors and where the monogram goes. A design is drawn from those choices and the customer has to approve it before anything is stitched. A vendor then makes the piece, and the vendors are not all in one place. The store needed to capture the choices cleanly and to run that chain after the order was placed.

How we approached it
- 01
Launch the store on Shopify Plus
We built the complete store on Shopify Plus, organized by room and by product type, so a shopper can find bedding, table linens, bath pieces or outdoor pieces.
- 02
Build the monogram builder
On a product, the shopper ticks "Personalize with a Monogram" and a four-step builder opens: select a monogram style, enter the letters (up to three), choose colors, and choose where the monogram goes.
- 03
Carry the choices to checkout
The style, letters, colors and location are saved with the item and pass through to checkout, so the order arrives with every detail needed to make it. The product page shows the monogram charge next to the price.
- 04
Show finished rooms with Shop by Look
We built galleries, such as Bedding - Shop by Look, of rooms the brand has made for its clients, so shoppers can see how embroidered and monogrammed linens look in real bedrooms and dining rooms.
- 05
Run designs and approvals in a back office
When an order with a monogram arrives, the team creates a design and sends it to the customer for review. Only once the customer approves does it go on to be made.
- 06
Manage vendors and ship through FedEx
A vendor system assigns each order to the vendor who makes it, including vendors in other countries, and pushes the shipment through FedEx.
Four steps to a monogram that is made to order
The monogram builder is the heart of the store. Step one is the style, chosen from the brand's recommended monograms or the full list. Step two is the letters. Step three is the colors. Step four is where on the piece the monogram goes.
The choices are not a free-text note on the order. They are structured data that goes to checkout and then to the back office, so the design team can draw exactly what was chosen. The same builder works across bedding, towels, napkins and place settings.
Shop by Look sits beside it. A shopper who is not sure what they want can browse finished rooms first, then open a product and personalize it, so inspiration and personalization are one path.
The result
Julia B. Casa launched with a store that can sell a made-to-order monogram and a back office that runs each order from design to approval to shipment. Revenue has grown by about 20% a month since launch, on Lucent's account.
Because vendors work inside the same system, the brand can add a vendor, including one in another country, without changing how a customer orders or how a package ships.

Questions about the Julia B. Casa migration
What did Lucent Commerce build for Julia B. Casa?
A Shopify Plus store with a four-step monogram builder and Shop by Look galleries, and a back office for monogram designs, customer approval and vendor orders, with FedEx shipping.
How does monogram personalization work on the store?
The shopper ticks Personalize with a Monogram, then chooses a style, enters up to three letters, chooses colors and chooses the location. Those choices pass through to checkout with the order.
Does the customer approve the monogram before it is made?
Yes. After the order, a design is created from the choices and sent to the customer for review, and the piece is made only once they approve it.
How do vendors fit in?
A vendor system manages the orders each vendor makes, including vendors in different countries, and pushes shipments through FedEx.
What is Shop by Look?
Galleries of rooms the brand has made, such as bedding, dining and bath, so shoppers can see finished looks and then personalize the pieces.
What results did Julia B. Casa see?
Revenue has grown by about 20% a month since launch. Julia B. Casa now sells made-to-order monograms through a four-step builder, and runs each order from design to approval to shipment in one back office. The brand can add a vendor, even in another country, without changing how a customer orders or how a package ships.
