Mighty Jaxx is a Singapore designer toy and collectibles company, founded in 2012. We built its storefront as a headless site on top of Shopify, with a rewards scheme and a scan-to-authenticate flow for its NFC-enabled figures, and we support the store day to day.

The challenge
Mighty Jaxx sells premium art toys and collectibles, a business built on limited runs, artists and fans who care whether a figure is real. It needed a store that felt like the brand, not a template, and one it could keep changing as new series came out.
It also wanted the physical figure and the website to talk to each other. A collector who owns a figure should be able to prove it is authentic, build a digital catalog of what they own and earn rewards for it. That is a different problem from selling a product: the product keeps working for the buyer long after the order ships.

How we approached it

Build the store as a headless front end
We built the storefront as a headless site, so the brand controls the look of every series page, while Shopify stays the back end for products, orders and checkout.

Organize the catalog for collectors
Shoppers can browse by category, such as cuties, cartoons and collectibles, and by artist. Shoppers can see which artist made a toy.

Handle pre-orders and boxes
Series are sold as a single box or a tray, with pre-orders and an estimated shipping date on the page. A tray completes a collection with no duplicates.

Connect the physical figure to the account
Figures with an NFC chip can be scanned to verify authenticity, which is recorded on a blockchain, and to unlock digital rewards. The collector's scans build a digital catalog of the figures they own.

Add rewards that reward scanning
Mighty Coins are earned with every purchase, and a scan earns bonus coins. Completing a set reveals vault backgrounds and display shelves, and coins turn into discounts on later orders.

Scan the figure, prove it is real, keep collecting
Collectors buy a figure to own, display and sometimes trade. Mighty Jaxx lets that figure carry a chip. Hold a phone to the figure and the store checks that it is authentic, and unlocks digital rewards for its owner.
The proof is recorded on a blockchain. A collector sees it as a scan and a result, not as technology. Each scan adds to a digital catalog of the physical collection, and the product page tells the shopper up front that scanning earns bonus coins.
The rewards loop is simple to read: earn Mighty Coins with every purchase, scan to earn more, complete a set to reveal exclusive vault backgrounds and display shelves, and spend coins on instant discounts on later orders.
The result
The store is live and the scan and rewards flow works for collectors. With a dedicated person on the store, the team's time is saved and more of it goes to improving the store.
